Migrating From Windows Mobile or Palm to Android
05/25/2012
For those who would like to transition from Windows Mobile / Palm to Android.
Take a look at these steps to move your PIM information.
Contacts from Outlook
This is the easiest way. Either save the list as a csv, but if you have contact pictures already created you will want to save each contact as a VCF.
Contacts from your device
Download ExportStudio from XDA Developers or . This will create a bunch of VCF files. Copy the files to your micro sd card. Open each one up on your device.
Tasks to Google Mail's Tasks (Not recommended)
Launch Outlook. Click File -> Export than click the CSV format. Launch Excel, then click the Data Menu and click Import. Launch Google Mail and click the Tasks. Copy the task from excel and paste it into the textbox and click enter for each one.
ToDo Task Manager
Launch Outlook. Click File -> Export than click the CSV format. Download Todo Task Manager from the marketplace(This seems to be the best TODO app). Download this excel file. Open up the previous saved csv file and copy the columns into each one. Save the file with the the exact same name to your micro sd card. Launch
the import app and point it to the file.
I was on the Android Platform, for a short while (less than 3 months). As a
person, who does more on their phone than just facebooks and texts, switched
back to Windows Mobile.
